About the association

Finska Läkaresälskapet, The Finnish Medical Association and The Finnish Medical Society Duodecim established the Council for the Evaluation of Continuous Professional Medical Development in Finland in 2002. It was the collaborative project of its three founding members. By 2007, over 60 CME organisers had embraced the Council’s published recommendations for CME organisers. Its goal has always been to keep the evaluation and follow-up for physicians’ continuous professional development in the hands of the profession itself.

At the end of 2007, the physician societies set up the Association for Continuous Professional Medical Development in Finland (Pro Medico) for developing the coordination of professional development. Funded mainly by its founding members, the association aims to progress further activity in support of continuous professional development.
